Ariane arrived late to the mountain bike ranks, acquiring her first fat-tyred machine for an off-road triathlon in Thun, a short trip from her hometown of Worb, Switzerland in 2009. She quickly made up for lost time, entering the legendary Roc d’Azur in France the day after handing in her Masters Thesis in Sports Science at the University of Bern. A national level swimmer and swimming coach, Ariane poured herself into her new-found passion for bikes.
Fast-forward to the present day and the Swiss superstar is a multiple winner of the most grueling mountain bike stage races in the world, including the Absa Cape Epic, the Cape Pioneer Trek and the Swiss Epic. She is revered among her rivals for her fierce and fearless marathon racing ability. Ariane is determined to build on her natural talent to earn the UCI XCM World Champion’s jersey in the future. Ariane has a loyal fan base across the globe, but especially in her adopted home of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
